In Focus: The Glacier Project with Merel Klomp & Elmar Janse
about the artist:
Merel Klomp (b. 1997) is a Director, Photographer, Filmmaker and explorer based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Specializing in nature driven commercial work with a keen eye for composition & design.
Merel was born and raised in The Netherlands where she graduated at the renowned ‘Willem The Kooning’ art academy (2018). She developed a deep-rooted fascination around the relation between humans and nature.
A passion for exploration took hold early on. Her outdoor focussed way of living and diverse skillset allows her to capture stories in the field of adventure, outdoor, travel and lifestyle subjects. Known for working with unique and sometimes remote landscapes, shooting talents and products in their native environments.
Whether it's hiking, mountaineering, (ice)climbing, outdoor cooking, architecture, camping, biking or tourism. Helping brands and organizations telling their story in an authentic way.
Together with Elmar Janse she co-founded Encrite. A creative studio with a drive to make meaningful stories stand out by powerful film & photography. Using aesthetics to inspire change.
Alongside commercial work they work on an artistic project: The Glacier Project.
A visual exploration capturing the ephemeral beauty and urgent reality of Europe's glaciers. Serving as a tribute to their magnificence while reminding us of their fragility.
A book is on the horizon.
Available for hire around the world.
